Be a PARK HERO
Individuals, children, families, and other groups use and enjoy MacGregor every day.  You can help clean and maintain the park by getting involved as a Park Hero.  By becoming a Park Hero you play your part in caring for your community.

Duties & Responsibilities:

You will help to maintain and care for MacGregor by cleaning signs, removing debris (including litter), weeding, and raking leaves.  As part of your Park Hero activities, you will keep a look out for and report to maintenance staff any hazards, damage, or vandalism. You will also be asked to track and regularly submit your volunteer hours to the Volunteer Program Coordinator.

Qualifications:
  • Able to be comfortable working outside, sometimes on uneven ground and willing to get
  • dirty. It also may be necessary to walk on unimproved trails and/or sloped areas to access the areas to be maintained
  • Able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling of materials
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Able to follow directions
  • Visually spot safety hazards and take prompt and appropriate action to correct in accordance with training provided 
  • Be dependable and reliable
  • Able to work outside in a variety of conditions such as heat, cold, or rain
  • Able to use small hand tools, shovels, rakes, and wheelbarrows
  • Able to work independently or as part of a group
  • Interact and communicate with the public in a professional manner
  • Appearance should be a positive reflection of the organization
  • Suitable clothing is required; consisting of closed toed shoes, long pants and gloves

Minimum age:
Any age welcome, age 13 and under with a guardian
